An ongoing act

The work considers mourning as an ongoing act of remembering. Gestures, voices, mannerisms and shared experiences begin to live within the people who carry them, allowing memory to become a kind of connection between what is present and what has been lost.

Through the painting, Rhea explores the idea that grief can gradually transform the way we see and experience the world. A person may no longer exist beside us, but continues to surface through ordinary places, objects and associations.
